Overview |
I am guided by the Golden Rule: I treat your privacy and security the way I want you to treat mine. This site provides links to other organizations’ Web sites for your convenience. These sites are beyond my control, and I do not assume any responsibility or liability for their policies, or their content. Do not infer that I support or endorse these sites, because I do not. |
What I Collect Without Your Knowledge |
To better manage this Web site, I collect aggregate data, such as the number of visitors. This data contains no personally identifiable information, beyond your IP address.
If you configure your browser to refuse cookies, you will disable certain features of this Web site. I don’t use cookies in any way that could gather information about you without your knowledge. |
What I Do With Information I Collect |
I use information that you knowingly provide via e-mail, chat rooms, or forms to send products you have requested, send/forward messages that I think you’ll find relevant, answer your questions, or contact you for feedback.
Some products or services, by their nature, require involvement of third parties. For example, if you’re a student using this site in conjunction with one of my courses, I’ll share that information with appropriate academic authorities for the purposes of grading, advising, or academic discipline. Similarly, if you order a product or service, I will forward information necessary to fulfill the order to third parties.
I will disclose information gathered by whatever means to authorities to comply with a search warrant, subpoena, court order, or similar legal requirement. I reserve the right to use information gathered by any means to protect my own rights and to prevent the misuse of my property. Otherwise, I will not disclose information to third parties without your permission. |
Security |
I use Secure Sockets Layers (SSL) encryption to protect sensitive data. I protect your personal information off-line, as well. I keep my employees up-to-date on my security and privacy practices. The servers storing your information are physically secure. |
Common Sense |
Even the best policy can’t protect your privacy and security in all situations. Unscrupulous weasels constantly scour the Internet for victims. Your best protection is to understand the limits to privacy on the Internet and use common sense in your on-line activities.
Beware of strangers who request your screen name, password, or credit card information. Verify the identity of anyone asking for personal information. Only disclose your e-mail address to people you trust.

Notices |
No portion of this site may be republished in print or online without written permission of Wayne Thomas Spies. All brand and product names are trademarks of their respective firms. Absence of appropriate registration, trademark, or copyright symbol does not constitute a waiver of the owner’s rights. I make a good-faith effort to provide appropriate legal notices, but, should I inadvertently omit one, I apologize in advance, and, if you’ll kindly let me know, I’ll correct my oversight. |
Protecting Children |
The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act ( COPPA”) imposes rules on Web sites that aim content at children. I comply with COPPA, though I can’t imagine that any part of this site would be of interest to children. As a parent, I’m committed to protecting children on-line. Monitor children’s on-line activities and educate them on safe Internet use. For information, see the U.S. Dept. of Education’s Parents’ Guide to the Internet.
