Speirs #186
Coteau Lodge #54 AF & AM is located at 721 Main Street in Webster. The property was deeded from Albert Smith to Coteau Lodge in 1886 and the building was to be built by July 1, 1886. The property was, thereafter, deeded several times and in 1921 a quitclaim deed was executed from JJ Cowen to Coteau Lodge #54.
The first Worshipful Master of Coteau Lodge #54 was Jonas A. Lee in 1884. Louis S. Lavoy was the Worshipful Master from 1892 to 1895. He was the Grand High Priest of the Grand Lodge of South Dakota in 1894 and the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge in 1898. From 1884 until 2011, there have been 90 Worshipful Masters for Coteau Lodge #54. Eugene Potas is the current Worshipful Master and the lodge has 58 brothers.

Please send exterior and interior photos of your lodge with a brief history to jasonaglodt@gmail.com. Once received, I will post a story about your lodge on the website and include it in the pictorial history book I am preparing for all lodges in South Dakota.
